Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars are generally last teeth to come through the gums, usually when people are in late teens, twenties or even older.

If jaw does not have enough room for wisdom tooth to come through, the tooth will become wedged in or impacted. Some impacted wisdom teeth remain buried & cause no trouble where as other impacted wisdom teeth may cause severe problems.

If one or more of your wisdom teeth causes problems, dentist may recommend that it be removed or extracted.

X-ray examination is needed. It will help the dentist plan the best way to remove troublesome Wisdom teeth.

After removal of wisdom tooth, dentist may prescribe antibiotics. Please let the dentist know if you ever had an allergic reaction to any antibiotics or any other drugs. Take the complete course of antibiotics.

Dentist may advise you to rinse your mouth often with warm saltwater mouthwash. Use one teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. The water should be as warm as possible, but not too hot. Dentist may also suggest a disinfectant mouthwash & a pain killer for you to use.
