Mouthguards help save your teeth from damage because of sporting injuries. A well fitted custom made mouthguard can save you a trip to the dentist and can help you avoid potentially expensive and painful treatments. Mouth guards are not only recommended for people playing sports but also for non-sporting activities that may cause severe trauma on your teeth and gums, especially where physical collisions may occur.
A custom-fit mouthguard is made from the moulds of your mouth and therefore is more comfortable to wear and provides better protection than over the counter and Boil n Bite mouthguards.
OTC and Boil n Bite mouthguards do not conform as well to the teeth and mucosa as a custom fitted mouthguard. As a result they don’t adapt well and are unable to absorb and distribute impact of the trauma.
How to look after your mouthguard
- Clean with cool water after each use
- You can use a toothbrush and toothpaste to give it a bit more thorough clean
- Please do not machine wash or place in dishwasher
How long does a mouthguard last?
In a growing child, as new teeth will erupt, mouthguard may need to be replaced. In older children and adults, mouthguard will wear down with use and should be checked annually by the dentist.
Avoid dental sporting injuries by wearing a dental mouthguard.
